Jessica de Boer verkent met haar werk de grenzen tussen kunst en wetenschap.
Ze is met haar set up "Sealed" cum laude geslaagd aan de Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunst in Den Haag bij de interfaculteit ArtScience. Daarvoor heeft ze haar docterandus behaald in Bestuurskunde en Duurzaamheid aan de Universiteit Twente. Vanaf 2008 heeft ze verschillende set ups geëxposeerd. In die periode initieerde zij ook het culturele programma Zzondag bij Villa Ockenburgh in Den Haag, een platform voor kunstenaars, wetenschappers en musici om hun werk te presenteren en thema's te discussieren voorbij de grenzen van hun vakgebied, ze was 3 jaar co-curator. In 2011 heeft ze een mede door Stroom Den Haag gesteund onderzoek gedaan naar hedendaags animisme in Mexico, waarvoor ze veldwerk heeft gedaan bij de Huichol Indianen en twee artist residencies. Dit resulteerde in een publicatie en de set up "The Life of the Dead Blue Hummingbird" dat op drie locaties in Mexico tentoon is gesteld. In 2018 is ze gepromoveerd op haar onderzoek An Area-based Research Approach to Energy Transition bij Ruimtelijke Wetenschappen aan de Universiteit Groningen. Als ArtScientist zet ze haar wetenschappelijke inzichten in voor innovatieve kunstpraktijken zodat duurzaamheidstransities in wisselwerking met actoren en artefacten tot leven komen. Haar werk is ondermeer gepresenteerd bij "The Power of Things" DEAF (NL), "A matter of feeling!" Meta.Morf Biennial (NO) and "Thingworld" New Media Art Triennial (CN).

Jessica de Boer works along the boundaries between art and science.
After her Masters in Public Policy and Sustainability, she graduated cum laude in 2008 from the interfaculty ArtScience at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague with her set up "Sealed". From 2008 on she created several set ups for exhibitions. That period she also initiated and co-curated the cultural program Zsunday at Villa Ockenburgh in The Hague: a platform for unprecedented research and ‘collisions’ between artists, scientist and musicians. In 2011 she investigated animism in Mexico by engaging with Huichol Indians and two artist residencies. This resulted in the set up "The Life of the Dead Blue Hummingbird" and a publication on contemporary animism in 2012. In 2018 she obtained her PhD with An Area-based Research Approach to Energy Transition at the faculty of Spatial Sciences from the University of Groningen. As ArtScientist she integrates her scientific insights in innovative art practices to bring sustainability transitions alive with interactions between actor and artefacts. Her work was presented among others at "The Power of Things" DEAF (NL), "A matter of feeling!" Meta.Morf Biennial (NO) and "Thingworld" New Media Art Triennial (CN).
